First Place Solution to the CVPR'2023 AQTC Challenge: A Function-Interaction Centric Approach with Spatiotemporal Visual-Language Alignment
Affordance-Centric Question-driven Task Completion (AQTC) has been proposed
to acquire knowledge from videos to furnish users with comprehensive and
systematic instructions. However, existing methods have hitherto neglected the
necessity of aligning spatiotemporal visual and linguistic signals, as well as
the crucial interactional information between humans and objects. To tackle
these limitations, we propose to combine large-scale pre-trained
vision-language and video-language models, which serve to contribute stable and
reliable multimodal data and facilitate effective spatiotemporal visual-textual
alignment. Additionally, a novel hand-object-interaction (HOI) aggregation
module is proposed which aids in capturing human-object interaction
information, thereby further augmenting the capacity to understand the
presented scenario. Our method achieved first place in the CVPR'2023 AQTC
Challenge, with a Recall@1 score of 78.7\%. The code is available at

Preventing Discriminatory Decision-making in Evolving Data Streams
Bias in machine learning has rightly received significant attention over the
last decade. However, most fair machine learning (fair-ML) work to address bias
in decision-making systems has focused solely on the offline setting. Despite
the wide prevalence of online systems in the real world, work on identifying
and correcting bias in the online setting is severely lacking. The unique
challenges of the online environment make addressing bias more difficult than
in the offline setting. First, Streaming Machine Learning (SML) algorithms must
deal with the constantly evolving real-time data stream. Second, they need to
adapt to changing data distributions (concept drift) to make accurate
predictions on new incoming data. Adding fairness constraints to this already
complicated task is not straightforward. In this work, we focus on the
challenges of achieving fairness in biased data streams while accounting for
the presence of concept drift, accessing one sample at a time. We present Fair
Sampling over Stream (), a novel fair rebalancing approach capable of
being integrated with SML classification algorithms. Furthermore, we devise the
first unified performance-fairness metric, Fairness Bonded Utility (FBU), to
evaluate and compare the trade-off between performance and fairness of
different bias mitigation methods efficiently. FBU simplifies the comparison of
fairness-performance trade-offs of multiple techniques through one unified and
intuitive evaluation, allowing model designers to easily choose a technique.
Overall, extensive evaluations show our measures surpass those of other fair
online techniques previously reported in the literature
DataSheet_1_Zinc intake ameliorates intestinal morphology and oxidative stress of broiler chickens under heat stress.docx
Zinc (Zn), an essential trace element for poultry, plays a crucial role in promoting growth, improving feed conversion efficiency, enhancing antioxidant activity, and preventing disease. This study investigated the impact of different levels and sources of dietary Zn supplementation on the growth performance, intestinal morphology and antioxidant activity of broiler chickens under heat stress conditions. In this experiment, 1024 Xueshan chickens were divided into eight groups and subjected to heat stress conditions with different levels of Zn supplementation (30 mg/kg, 60 mg/kg, and 90 mg/kg) using organic or inorganic sources. Our findings indicated that dietary Zn supplementation significantly increased the feed-to-weight ratio of broilers during the experimental period under heat stress. Moreover, Zn supplementation positively increased the villus height and villus width in the jejunum and ileum at 74 and 88 days old, with the 60 and 90 mg/kg groups outperforming other groups, and organic Zn was more effective than inorganic Zn. Furthermore, Zn supplementation significantly increased serum antioxidant levels, with higher superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px) activities, and organic Zn was more effective than inorganic Zn. This study concludes that Zn supplementation is beneficial in mitigating the detrimental impacts of heat stress on broilers. The findings suggest that employing Zn as a strategy can enhance productivity in the poultry industry by positively influencing intestinal morphology and bolstering antioxidant activity to counteract potential stress.</p
